Memorial Day

Memorial Day honors the brave men and women who fought to protect our country. Memorial Day was created after the Civil War and was first known as Decoration Day by Union Soldiers who decorated the tombstones of their fallen comrades with flowers. By the 20th century, Memorial Day was created to merge the competing Confederate and Union traditions. Memorial day takes place the last Monday of May and is recognized all across the country.
