April 6 is National Caramel Popcorn day! At Jody’s Gourmet Popcorn, we absolutely love this day! Jody’s desire for fresh caramel corn in Virginia Beach, Virginia when she moved to the area is how Recipe 53 Caramel Corn was created after all.
Did you know that caramel corn has actually been around since 1870? Frederick and Louis Rueckheim, two German immigrants, opened a popcorn store in Chicago, Illinois and began experimenting with different popcorn concoctions. Their popular mix of popcorn, peanuts and molasses became the first caramel corn ever!
Because we love caramel corn so much, we want to honor the delicious snack on National Caramel Popcorn Day by sharing our recipe for the Recipe 53 Caramel Corn Sundae!

Recipe 53 Caramel Corn Sundae
¾ cup of vanilla ice cream
1 tbsp serving of hot fudge sauce
1 tbsp caramel sauce
2 tbsp of crushed peanuts
⅔ cup of Jody’s Gourmet Popcorn Recipe 53 Caramel Corn
1 maraschino cherry
Scoop your ice cream into a mason jar or tall glass and drizzle the hot fudge sauce and caramel sauce on top. Next, sprinkle the crushed peanuts and Jody’s Gourmet Recipe 53 Caramel Corn. Spray a desired amount of whipped cream on the top of the ingredients and place the maraschino cherry on top of the whipped cream.
